Sangha [suhng-guh]: Beloved Community
The sangha is a community where there should be harmony and peace and understanding. That is something created by our daily life together. If love is there in the community, if we've been nourished by the harmony in the community, then we will never move away from love.
THICH NHAT HANH
Beneath your feet is an incredible underground network, the Wood Wide Web, or the social life of trees. Without getting into the science behind this wondrous natural phenomenon, we learn of the significance and importance of community and connection. Trees share water, and nutrients, and can even send distress signals to one another. Saplings are dependent on the nutrients and sugar from older trees to grow.
The relationship between trees is a perfect metaphor for that of a sangha. Humans need this collective energy so that we may all flourish and thrive. When we have rooted into the soil, it is then that we can rise.
Sangha Events symbol is a variation of the Dara Celtic knot, symbolizing the extensive root system of an oak tree and leaves that reach up to the sky. The Dara knot also demonstrates the connection between all living beings, even the unseen connections as with the celestial spirit or divine.
